Craft Project with NGO

Interned as a design intern with Chotti si Asha in June 2019, an NGO, working with rural women to help them earn a living for themselves. The NGO teaches and helps the women upgrade and learn new skills like basket weaving, embroidery, stitching etc and implementing these to create a vast range of products. The products created by the women artisans are available to be purchased via online medium or even from their workshop.
My job at the NGO was to create new designs for cushion covers, carry out product photo shoot for existing products and introduce the women to a new craft technique.

Exploring and brainstorming with the different fabric options available. Curating designs and patterns for the cushion designs to incorporate in their collection.
Final designs manufactured by women artisans at Chotti si Asha. These covers were a part of a special collection made exclusively for a client of the NGO.
Product photo shoot for some of the existing products curated by the artisans at Chotti si Asha. The products include Table runners, Notebooks and Coasters.
Introducing the artisans to the technique of block printing and how it can be used across different product categories. The fabric prints made were later used to create dupattas and scarfs. Even kids at the NGO loved experimenting with block printing.
Some of the patterns made by the women through block printing.
One of the special exhibition-cum-sale, at JW Marriott Chandigarh in June 2019. The exhibition-cum-sale was part of a celebration week organised by the hotel for its employees.
